Hon Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, The Interior Minister had had the distinct honor to meet the Mayor of Trenton, New Jersey, in the United States of America, Hon. W. Reed Gusciora. As part of his visit, he was warmly received at the Trenton Fire Department, where he was taken on a guided tour of their facilities and briefed on their operational systems and advanced emergency response mechanisms.

In furtherance of this engagement, the City of Trenton, in collaboration with other municipalities in America, has expressed its commitment to support the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) through the provision of specialized training and the donation of modern firefighting equipment. The training will be tailored to expose GNFS personnel to international best practices in firefighting, emergency response and disaster preparedness.

This partnership is expected to significantly enhance the capabilities of the GNFS, strengthen institutional capacity, and ultimately improve the country’s readiness and effectiveness in managing fire outbreaks and other emergencies. Beyond capacity building, the donation of critical firefighting equipment will help bridge logistical gaps and provide Ghana’s firefighters with improved tools to carry out their lifesaving duties.

The collaboration between Ghana and Trenton; the US symbolizes more than a technical exchange—it represents a deeper spirit of solidarity and shared commitment to public safety and service. By leveraging each other’s expertise and experience, both sides reaffirm their dedication to protecting lives and safeguarding communities.
The Interior Minister was privileged to be accompanied on this important visit by officials of Ghana’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, who continue to play a vital role in advancing Ghana’s diplomatic and developmental partnerships in the United States.
