A popular kumawood movie actor and producer, Kwaku Nkansah LilWin is said to have taken a legal action against a television station, demanding GH¢1 million in compensation over alleged unauthorized broadcasting of his movie.
According to reports, LilWin claims the station aired his movie without obtaining the necessary rights or consent from him. He argues that this act amounts to piracy and copyright infringement, causing him significant financial losses and undermining his intellectual property rights.
The actor further stated that the unauthorized broadcast has affected his ability to earn revenue from the movie through legitimate distribution channels.
This lawsuit highlights ongoing concerns among Ghanaian creatives about the need to protect their works from piracy and unauthorized use. Many in the entertainment industry believe a ruling in LilWin’s favor could serve as a strong warning to media platforms that air copyrighted content without proper licensing.
As of now, the TV station involved has not issued an official response to the lawsuit, and the case is expected to proceed in court in the coming weeks.
