
A great state woman, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings died at the Ridge Hospital in Accra on Thursday, October 23, 2025, leaving Ghana in sadness. Her age was 76.
Many people praised Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, the late former president Jerry John Rawlings’ wife, for her decades-long commitment to women’s rights and the advancement of the country. She was the driving force behind the 31st December Women’s Movement, which promoted leadership, education, and entrepreneurship among Ghanaian women.

Her political journey also broke barriers—she became Ghana’s first female presidential candidate when she contested the 2016 elections on the ticket of the National Democratic Party (NDP), a party she helped establish.
