The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in the Ashanti Region has launched its “Storm The Market” project in Kumasi with the theme ” my NHIS app ; my registration made easier”.
Mr. Mohammed Muniru Muntaka, the Ashanti Regional Director for National Health Insurance Scheme stated in speech that, the Ashanti Region Storm Project is aimed to reach out to traders in the various markets in the Ashanti Region.
According to him, the government launched the NHIS as a legitimate public health program to enhance the health of Ghanaians.
“The Storm Project will handle the following tasks: registering new members, replacing lost membership cards, renewing existing ones, and combining membership cards with Ghanaian cards, among other things through the use of My NHIS APP” He said.
According to him, the launch of the “MY NHIS APP” will make it easier for smartphone users to sign up for the policy.
The Sensitization exercise (Storm the Market) covered areas such as Asafo Market, Alaba, Bola, Dr. Mensah, K.O Kejetia Market and the Central Business District inside Adum Kumasi. The exercise will proceed to the districts and municipalities across the region.
He advised the general public to report any health facility that may violate the regulations of the policy to the nearest NHIS office.
Mr. Muntaka cautioned all NHIS service providers to follow the guidelines and offer all NHIS beneficiaries high-quality services.
Speaking to some of the traders, they said “My NHIS App” will help them deal with the frustration and challenges they occasionally face when they visit the NHIS office for services. Spend more time in the cue and occasionally face network issues.
The project was officially launched on Thursday, 23rd October, 2025, in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
