Interior Minister Commissioned Upper West Regional Police Headquarters in Wa

Minister for the Interior and Member of Parliament for Asawase Constituency had had the honour to commissioning the Upper West Regional Police Headquarters in Wa—an important milestone that significantly strengthens the region’s security architecture.

The facility represents a major boost to policing capacity and underscores the critical importance of collaboration between the Ghana Police Service and the public in safeguarding peace and security.

In his address, he reaffirmed the Government’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the Police Service through sustained investments in logistics, mobility, communication systems, and infrastructure.

He urged officers to exercise sound stewardship of these resources, emphasizing accountability, efficiency, and value for money in service delivery.

He further called on traditional authorities, chiefs, and community members to actively support the Police Service, stressing that security is a shared responsibility. He highlighted the vital role of community intelligence, conflict resolution mechanisms, and youth guidance in maintaining peace and stability across the region.

Hon. Muntaka commended the men and women of the Ghana Police Service for their dedication and bravery, and appealed to the public to continue to support and respect them. A police service that is embraced by its people becomes more confident, responsive, and effective.

The commissioning of the Regional Police Headquarters marks a significant step in Government’s broader efforts to enhance security in the Upper West Region. The new facility will improve rapid response, crime management, and inter-agency coordination—bringing policing closer to the people and reinforcing public confidence in law enforcement.
