President John Dramani Mahama has officially signed the 24-Hour Economy Authority Bill into law, marking a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to transform Ghana’s economic landscape.

The bill, which was approved by Parliament on February 6, 2026, establishes a 24-Hour Economy Authority to oversee the implementation of the government’s flagship economic policy.

The Authority will serve as the central coordinating body for the nationwide rollout of the policy, working closely with key government institutions, private sector actors, and other stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of round-the-clock economic activities across the country.

The 24-hour economy policy aims to restructure Ghana’s economic framework by promoting continuous production, service delivery, and business operations across multiple sectors.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, President Mahama emphasized that the signing of the bill marks a shift “from strategy to implementation,” with a strong emphasis on job creation for Ghanaians.

“This is a major step forward in our efforts to create a more dynamic and resilient economy that benefits all Ghanaians,” he said.

The implementation of the 24-hour economy policy is expected to have a significant impact on Ghana’s economic growth, creating new opportunities for businesses, entrepreneurs, and workers.

The policy is also expected to improve the country’s competitiveness, attract investment, and stimulate innovation.

The establishment of the 24-Hour Economy Authority is seen as a critical component of the government’s efforts to drive economic transformation and create a more prosperous future for Ghanaians.
