At least 55 Ghanaians Killed in Russia-Ukraine War

Report says 55 Ghanaians recruited into the Russian army for the ongoing war in Ukraine have been killed, Ukrainian officials have revealed.

The disclosure came during a meeting between a Ghanaian delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and Brigadier General Dmytro Usov, Secretary of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War in Ukraine, on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

The report further notices that the 55 Ghanaians are not officially recruited security personnel who were deployed by the government.

Ghanaians are therefore warned to refrain from such illegal foreign security recruits.
