ADMISSION INTO POST-BASIC SPECIALISED NURSING PROGRAMMES IN THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH, HEALTH TRAINING INSTITUTIONS

 

 

 

INTRODUCTION: Ghana faces a dual challenge: the growing need for specialist nurses to provide quality healthcare delivery locally, particularly in managing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as heart diseases, diabetes, cancer, kidney failure and others, which has called for the introduction of the government’s flagship programme – the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (MahamaCares), as well as the rising migration of specialised health workers to other countries.

To strengthen domestic healthcare services in support of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (MahamaCares) and support the Ghana Labour Exchange Programme, the Ministry of Health has scaled up and introduced new Post-Basic Specialised Nursing Programmes in the following areas;

1. Critical Care Nursing
2. Emergency Nursing
3. Cardiology Nursing
4. Nephrology Nursing
5. Endocrinology Nursing
6. Oncology Nursing

Professional Certification:

Graduates will be eligible for Associate Membership with the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives (GCNM) and for licensure with the Nursing and Midwifery Council -Ghana (NMC).
Academic certification:

Graduates will receive a BSc. from the University of Cape Coast. (UCC)

Duration of Training: (4) four semesters, intensive, clinically focused.

Requirements

1. Applicants should be medically fit and not more than 40 years old.

2. Passion for specialized area of nursing care and commitment to serve in Ghana’s health system

3. Diploma in Registered General Nursing, Diploma in Midwifery, and Registered Mental Health Nursing.

4. Completed one-year Mandatory Rotation/Internship/National Service

5. Two (2) years work experience in an area of interest (Public or Private Sector)

6. You must possess a valid Personal Identification Number (PIN) from the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Process:

1. Applications should be processed and submitted through the web application platform, using this link https://register.healthtraining.gov.gh at a cost of GH¢150.00.

2. Upon payment, applicants will receive a voucher containing a unique PIN and Serial Number.

3. Applicants should provide a dedicated phone number and a valid personal e-mail address for all correspondence.

4. Applicant must provide their residential address and Ghana Post Digital Address during the application process.

5. Visit https://register.healthtraining.gov.gh, use the PIN and serial number to access the online application form. You will be required to upload scanned copies of your academic and professional certificates.

6. The application form is accessible only with the provided PIN and serial number. Carefully follow the instructions and complete all relevant stages of the application process. Follow the step-by-step instructions provided on the portal to complete the online application. The PIN and Serial Number will also be required for tracking the status of your application.

7. You may use the same PIN and serial number to track the status of your application.
