Damak-IDP Sanitation Excellence wards: Tafo-Nhyiaeso Assemblyman Wins 2025 Overall Best  

The Assemblyman for the Tafo-Nhyiaeso Electoral Area in the Tafo Municipality and Chief Executive Officer for Royal Nursing College, Hon. Owusu King, has been judged the overall best winner 2025 for contributing immensely toward improving the Sanitation situation in the municipality.

Damak-IDP, in partnership with a Switzerland organisation, International Direct Project (IDP), in its third edition of Sanitation Excellence Awards, was organised to honor and recognise individuals who have, in their capacity, contributed in diverse ways, aiming at improving the Sanitation situation in their community (s), are being appreciated.

The august awards night attracted key personalities from all walks of life, including the political line, who were present to witness the event, as eight (8) personalities have been selected to receive this year’s awards.

Among the award-winning personalities were; Hon. Owusu King, Assemblyman for Tafo Nhyiaeso cum Chief Executive Officer for Royal Nursing College, Hon. Samuel Kolebil Duanuuri, Assemblyman for Adenyaase Sawaaba Electoral Area, Alhaji Ibrahim Wahab Tikuma, Chief Butcher, Kumasi Abattoir, Alhaji Abubakari, Managing Director of Basfarm Company, and many others have received various categories of awards.

The overall winner, Hon. Owusu King, received the award, thanked the organisers, expressing his appreciation for the award, and admitted to level his support so that, together, the fight against clean sanitation can be properly addressed.

He, however, advised the public, especially his colleagues in the Assembly (s) to join the Damak-IDP Sanitation campaign to help keep their communities safe and clean.

The Chief Butcher for the Abattoir company,  Alhaji Ibrahim Wahab Tikum, who also receivedd an outstanding award said, his outfit will continue improving sanitary conditions in the Abattoir. Stressed that when there’s no clean environment, there will be no clean meat.  However, plans to transform the abattoir company into AA meat processing company in West Africa is on the pipeline and negotiations with government are far reching conclusion and very soon Kumasi Abattoir will witness a magnificent face-lift.

In a short message from the Director of Damak Sanitation Health Watch Ghana, Daniel Mbabugri Akgri, yold the and sundry that before an awardee is nominated, an indepth background investigation are conducted by a team of the organisation’s media before an awardee is selected .

This, he said, the selection is being determined by a Google Digital Address System checker. This system, he noted help to ensure transparent and credibile outcome.

According to him, since the organisation’s prime objective is to providing innovative measures towards reducing sanitary coimproving, the organisation will be launching a project targeting school children in all districts, Municipal and Metropolitan assemblies in 2026 where we can instill the habit of cleanness in children at a tender age so that when they grow, they can become abreast with environmental cleanness.

On his part, the Director of International Direct Project (IDP), Pierre P. Petitjean lauded the awardees for their contributions in the sanitation front and assured them of continued support of which he outlined the outfit plans to providing machined borles for deprived communities as part of the outfit operational areas.
