The Amasaman High Court has today Thursday 5th February, 2026 slashed the prison sentence of the controversial evangelist Patricia Asiedu Oduro Koranteng popularly known as Nana Agradaa from 15 years to 12 calendar months after ruling that the original punishment was unduly harsh.
In its judgment, the court maintained her conviction but reviewed the sentence imposed by the trial court. Exercising its discretionary authority, the High Court replaced the 15-year sentence with hard labour with a one-year custodial term.
The court directed that the reduced sentence should take effect from July 3, 2025, the date Nana Agradaa was convicted. This means she will serve a total of 12 months in prison.
According to the court, while the offence committed by Nana Agradaa deserved punishment, the severity of the initial sentence was disproportionate to the circumstances of the case, warranting a downward adjustment.
Nana Agradaa, a former fetish priestess who later became a Christian evangelist, was convicted earlier this year. Her 15-year jail term sparked widespread public debate and legal scrutiny, culminating in the High Court’s decision to significantly reduce her sentence.
Patricia Asiedu Oduro Koranteng, also known as Nana Agradaa or Mama Pat, is a Ghanaian former traditional priestess who later became a Christian convert and later became a self-claimed evangelist at her own church with thousands of followers.
