The Ashanti Regional Police Command in a series of intelligence-led operations has arrested twelve (12) suspected notorious criminals connected to various crimes including robberies in the region.
Three of the suspects have been linked to the murder of the Kusasi Chief at Asawase, Kumasi.
The suspects are; Abdalah Alhassan, Jemini Usman (Babamu), Aminu Iddrisu (0244), Illiasu Dauda, Majeed Issaka Jibril, Gafaru Ibrahim, Mohammed Mumuni alias Mama, Tanko Malik alias Bronze, Mohammed Bawa alias Mallam, Dramani Musah, Suleman Yasir Arafat alias Obasanjo, and Ashaidu Sumbieda alias Eyeshadow.
The three suspects linked to the murder of the Asawase Chief are Jamil Usman alias Babamu alias Guru, Suleman Yasir Arafat alias Obasanjo, and Ashaidu Sumbieda alias Eyeshadow,.
The Police retrieved a Toyota Corolla vehicle with registration number GC•439-21 believed to have been used by the suspects in their operations.
“Two (2) other suspects, Illiasu Bawa and David Aheto sustained gunshot injuries during the operation and were later pronounced dead.,” Police said in a statement.
Other exhibits recovered during the operation include the following:
• Two (2) AK-47 assault rifles
• One (1) pump-action gun
• Two (2) pistols
• Forty-four (44) rounds of .32 ammunition,
• Twenty-four (24) rounds of 9mm ammunition
Meanwhile, one other suspect, Illiasu alias Abodam remains at large.
The Police assured that efforts are underway to arrest him to justice.
