$100 MILLION JOMORO MINING GROUP LTD PROJECT INAUGURATED

The Divisional Chief and people of Jomoro, a community in the Ouwin Municipal Assembly in the Western North Region on Saturday, 20th September, 2025, officially inaugurated Jomoro Mining Group LTD.

Nana Kwame Nkansah II, Jomorohene and the Chief Executive Officer of Jomoro Mining Group LTD. expressed his appreciation and gratitude of his people and the government for making this initiative a success.

Addressing the gathering, he called for the support of everyone, especially, the regional minister and member of parliament for the area to enable him ascertain the sustainable development goal through responsible small-scale mining.

According to him, the $100m Jomoro Mining Group LTD project is in collaboration with Eureka Ethos Mining Services LTD to create over 5000 jobs for the youth of Jomoro, the Aowin Municipality and Ghana as a whole

“I am appealing to Nananom and the good people of the Jomoro Community to join hands in protecting our natural resources which includes the forest reserves, the water bodies, cocoa farm lands etc for the future generations” Nana Kwame Nkansah II appealed.

He disclosed that his vision is changing the face of the indigenous way of mining to the modern where application of technology is assured.

The Western North Regional Minister, Hon. Wilbert Petty Brentum Who stood in for the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah in his speech said it was the vision of the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama to help those who are into mining especially artisanal miners to become small scale miners by bringing program/project to help them acquire the skills and knowledge in the work they are doing and do it in the right way.

He noted that the Community Mining policy was purposely initiated to help curb illegal mining activities (galamsey) in the country and that’s reason why would continue to support the small and medium mining companies to ensure sustainable mining in the mining communities.

He emphasized that the project was the 1st of its kind which was coming to open the doors of many others in the mining industry in the Western North Region.

Hon. Oscar Ofori Larbi, the member of parliament for the Aowin Constituency said the people in the Municipality are into farming and mining where the mining contributes the greatest part of the local economy of the Municipality and that necessitated why the Jomoro Community needs a sustainable mining development project such as what has been officially inaugurated.

He also indicated that the Municipality was lucky to get such alluvial mining opportunities to help create more jobs for the youth and also curb the devastating illegal mining activities (galamsey) in the Aowin Municipality and beyond.

He expressed his appreciation and that of the good people of the Municipality to the President of the Republic His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the Lands and Natural Resources Minister, and the leadership of the Minerals Commission for ensuring sustainable mining in the Municipality.

Dr. Prince Hayford, the Executive Director of Eureka Ethos Mining Services LTD in his speech noted that the purpose and the goal of the $100 million is to create job opportunities for the people of the Jomoro Community.

He also assured that they will be following all the approved protocols tended by the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the Minerals Commission.

Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi vii, the Omanhene of the Aowin Traditional Area who chaired the occasion expressed the need to take the responsibility as good citizens to track down those who are destroying the environment and spoiling the water bodies all in the name of illegal mining and this fight should not be left on the government alone.

He said Nananom should play their role as leaders of their communities by ensuring the right things are done under their guide because all water bodies in Ghana pass through communities, towns or villages before joining the sea.

Daasebre Ewusi added that it is the responsibility of all Ghanaians to protect our water bodies and seek a responsible mining to take place.
