At least, seven died in a fatal accident on Nkawkaw–Atibie Road

Information gathered indicates that, all seven persons onboard have been confirmed dead following a fatal road accident involving a Hyundai Grace minibus on the Nkawkaw–Atibie Road in the Eastern Region.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service at Nkawkaw, the accident occurred on Monday, April 27, 2026, at about 10:28 p.m. after the station received a distress call reporting the incident.

Fire officers were immediately dispatched to the scene and arrived at approximately 10:49 p.m.

Preliminary reports indicate that the Hyundai Grace minibus with registration number *GR 5660-18* was involved in a severe crash and was completely damaged.

The Ghana National Fire Service said seven persons lost their lives in the accident.

Firefighters secured the scene and undertook operations to prevent further hazards.

Personnel from the Mpraeso Fire Station also joined the rescue operation, while officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) and the Ambulance Service assisted with traffic management and recovery efforts.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
