The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has emphasized the need for strict monitoring of government projects to ensure that promises made to Ghanaians are fulfilled. Speaking during his thank-you tour of Ajumako Enyan Essiam, he stated that although ministers and District Chief Executives (DCEs) are working hard, there must be proper supervision to verify progress on campaign commitments.

Asiedu Nketia posited that authorities must regularly assess which projects have been completed, which are ongoing, and which have not yet commenced. He explained that during such visits, DCEs are required to present budgetary reports and provide updates on projects, including the construction of schools and hospitals. He noted that reviewing achievements within the first year of administration is essential to maintaining accountability.

The District Chief Executive for Ajumako Enyan Essiam, Hon. Andrews Kojo Duodu, highlighted several ongoing and completed projects in the district. He disclosed that a six-unit classroom block for Ajumako Asiaman D/A Primary School is nearing completion and is expected to be ready by the end of March. He also revealed that a CHPS compound has been completed at Ajumako Asorze.

He further stated that additional CHPS facilities are planned for Bremen Denkyira Ndua and Ajumako Techiman. Addressing water challenges in some communities, the DCE assured residents that contractors are working diligently to ensure access to clean water by the end of the month. He added that road rehabilitation works are ongoing within the district, including sections of the old Accra road linking Swedru, Ajumako, and Mankessim, following efforts by Hon. Cassiel Ato Forson and government approval.

The Omanhene of Ajumako, Kwamena Hammah Ababio, appealed to the government to address youth unemployment in the district. He expressed concern over the growing number of young people without jobs and called for the creation of sustainable employment opportunities.

He also raised concerns about education in the district, noting that schools require more than 300 teachers to improve teaching and learning. The chief urged the Minister of Education to intervene and called for urgent improvements to the deplorable condition of school infrastructure in Ajumako Enyan Essiam.
