The Mayor of Kumasi Leads Special Clean-Up Exercise Ahead of Asantehemaa’s Final Funeral Celebration

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), headed by Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, organized a metropolis-wide clean-up exercise today.

The exercise is part of preparations for the funeral of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, scheduled for Monday, September 15, 2025.

According to the Mayor, the clean-up exercise aims to ensure that the city of Kumasi is spotless to honor the late Queenmother and make it presentable for visitors who will be mourning the Asanteman.

The Mayor was seen physically desilting clogged gutters, demonstrating his commitment to the exercise.

Various groups participated in the clean-up exercise, including the Ashanti Youth Association, Kumasi Youth Association, and Kejetia Petty Traders Association.

Schools such as KASS, Asanteman SHS, Bantama SDA SHS, and Islamic Senior High School also contributed to the success of the exercise.

Some Assembly Members ensured that their electoral areas participated in the clean-up, which covered areas including Ash-Town, Dichemso, Amakom, Asafo, Adum, Nhyiaeso, Dr. Mensah, Mmrom, K.O Odumasi, Alabar, Manhyia Extension, Bantama, Cultural Centre, and Waec Drain (Akwatia Line).

The clean-up exercise is expected to contribute to maintaining the dignity and cleanliness of Kumasi during the funeral proceedings of the late Asantehemaa.

Using the occasion, Mr. George Kwesi Manu, Ashanti Regional Manager for Zoomlion Ghana Ltd., urged people, organizations, and the public to work with Zoomlion to address sanitation in Ghana.

According to Mr. Manu, Zoomlion Ghana Ltd. is making every effort, given the limited resources at its disposal, to guarantee a hygienic and salubrious environment for the citizens of Ghana. He stated, “Zoomlion Ghana Ltd. is taking Ghana’s sanitation fight to the highest level despite everything.”
