The Prestea District Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers, including two military officers, in connection with an attempted robbery at LongShine Mining Company Limited in Obouhu, a suburb of Prestea.
According to reports, the suspects, part of a six-member gang attempted the robbery on Sunday, September 28, 2025, between 10:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Security guards and management of the mining company alerted the police, leading to the swift arrest. Two of the civilian suspects managed to escape and remain at large.
The arrested suspects, made up of two military officers and two civilians, have since been transferred from the Prestea District Police Command to the Tarkwa Divisional Police Command for further investigation.
Police also revealed that the gang had rented a brand-new Toyota pickup, with registration number GN 6116-25, for the operation. The vehicle has been impounded as part of the investigation.
